Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapy enables people of all ages to function at the highest possible level by helping them promote health and prevent - or live better with - illness, injury or disability. Occupational Therapy uses everyday tasks to develop the needed skills to complete daily activities and participate in life.
Occupational Therapy is most often prescribed by a doctor for the following conditions:
• Hand, shoulder or arm injuries including broken bones, tendon and nerve injuries, and arthritis to regain motion and strength.
• Stroke rehabilitation for assistance in regaining motion of the affected arm and training in daily activities including dressing, bathing, grooming, cooking and hobbies.
• Down's Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Developmental Delays and Fine Motor Delays in pediatric clients to assist in acquiring and maintaining developmental milestones necessary as the child's building blocks for school and daily activities.
The Occupational Therapy professionals at Iroquois Memorial Hospital are skilled in the fabrication of arm and hand splints, individualizing exercise routines and treatment sessions according to the patient's goals, and training in adaptive equipment to increase independence in daily activities. Let us help you obtain the highest level of skills for the job of living your daily life.
