IMH OFFERS ENHANCED PROTECTION OF PATIENT'S ELECTRONIC MEDICAL RECORDS
January 9, 2015
Watseka, IL - Chuck Bohlmann, IMH CEO, is pleased to announce that Iroquois Memorial Hospital is offering patients advanced medical identity theft protection, efficient patient registration, and reducing the chances of duplicate medical files with just a touch of the finger.A code, unique to only that patient, is created when their finger is scanned. "Because the code is created from their fingerprint, a patient's identity cannot be falsified," said Bohlmann. The program is voluntary and is currently installed at Inpatient and Outpatient Registration. Eventually it will be launched in all of the IMH Satellite Clinics and IMH Outpatient Rehab Services.
Once in the system, a patient registering will simply place their finger on the scanner. This will prevent someone else from accessing their health information. Nationwide, medical identity theft is on the rise, and it is estimated that Americans spend $40 billion annually on medical identity theft. In the past two years, over 7 million patient identities at health care systems across the country have been protected with the biometric technology available through CrossChx.
